What is it that you do?
a. I am a Professional Mermaid, I make appearances at Faires, Birthday Parties, other Special Events,
and Educational Events.
- Where are you located?
a. College Station, Tx - When did you start selling or performing? In general or at ren fests?
a. I have been performing as a mermaid since 2015 and started at Faire in 2024. - What was your local faire or home faire?
a. My local faire that I grew up going to multiple times a year was Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie,
Tx. - Why Renaissance Faires or theme? What is it that made you so interested in this period?
a. There has also been something about that time period that I have been drawn to. My mother thinks
it because I was born in Germany and remember seeing the castles. - In five years (or less) my goal is to: Have a tank or just regularly perform at my local fairies be that
Texas Renaissance Festival, Kerrville Renaissance Faire, Sherwood Forest Faire or New Braunfels
Renaissance Faire. - At faire, what was your garb/attire your usual go to?
a. I have this beautiful shimmer purple and teal chemise and skirt from SilverLeaf that I pair with a
black corset and all of my octopus accessories including the sword.
- What makes you stand out?
a. I think what makes me stand out is that I have a Marine Biology degree from Texas A&M Galveston. I know conservation and education is a big push within the mermaid community and having that deep understanding of how it all connects and works I think makes a difference when speaking with people. - What was your very first experience at a renaissance festival? What education or training if any do you
have that led to what you do?
a. My first experience at faire was at Scarborough Faire when I was about 13 or 14. I knew I wanted to
dress up so we got me a general costume from the party supply store to attend. I immediately fell in
love with everything there: the acts, the outfits, the overall atmosphere. I left that first trip with a dress
and corset from faire. After attending I also got into a local belly dance studio where I was then and
eventually when we moved up towards Dallas I continued my training with Isis Academy Performing
Arts, whose troupe performs at Scarborough. Eventually professional mermaiding became this big thing
that I got into and mermaids slowly started swimming into the faires. At first for mermaiding I had no
training. It was very much figuring it out for yourself. But a couple years ago now I became certified by
PADI as an Advanced Mermaid and as a Mermaid Instructor. It has solidified my skills as a professional
mermaid. Throughout growing up and my adult life I have also had professional acting and voice acting
lessons.
- What is your go to for food at faire? You can name a food vendor or if you are a food vendor, what is
your most sold item?
a. That’s a hard one and definitely depends on the faire. Like at Scarborough I really like their baked
potatoes. For Texas Renaissance I tend to eat their popcorn chicken with chips. Haven’t found a go-to at
Sherwood Forest Faire yet, although the candied bacon thing the coffee shop has is good. - Plug your website or fan page here (or both)
