Here’s a Story about Story Telling Floki – Missouri area

  1. What is it that you do? I tell original stories and stories from the Norse Mythos
  1. Where are you located? Based in northwest Missouri
  2. What got you interested in starting out in this business? I have played Floki at faire for a little over a year and a half after being given the Floki name at our first ever faire.
  3. When did you start performing? In general or at renaissance fests? My wife started selling at Bluffwoods Renaissance Festival in St Joseph Missouri. this is my first year as an official performer
  4. What was your local faire or home faire? Bluffwoods Renaissance Festival
  5. How are you compensating for this strange time we are in now? I strive to give Patrons an escape from the real world.
  6. What advice do you have to give to others that are just starting out in this business? Or how to stay in this business? Be genuine! make yourself approachable first and foremost. My character is just my personality turned up to 11
  1. How do you handle thefts or copying of your works? aside From my few original stories if someone tells a story from the Norse Mythos that is their right
  2. Are you doing any online sales or virtual performances? I do plan on doing live storytelling on my page periodically during off season
  3. Why Renaissance Faires or theme? What is it that made you so interested in this period? I love the immersion and atmosphere of faire. Even when I was a vendor I believed that We sell an experience over goods. The acceptance and love that I have received at faire have made me feel like family.

Describe your first experience with us or your best experience (could be worst experience if you want to share that) my absolute best experience was at Arkansas Renaissance Festival (ARRF), it was the first permanent sight that runs for 6 weeks this year. Our car broke down twice whole we were there but the atmosphere of the faire and their willingness to take ideas from Performers and vendors alike made the faire amazing!
  5. In five years (or less) my goal is to: I would like this to be 100% full time for me
  6. At faire, what was your garb/attire your usual go to? Blue tunic, black pants, black or blue cloak and a black fur mantle. The cloaks and fur are obviously only for cooler weather.
  7. What makes your act/wares unique or different? I don’t just do my stories. I play with patrons , fake photo bombing them and just trying to keep smiles on patrons Faces
  8. What makes you stand out? Honestly I don’t know. Maybe my look or my willingness to do anything to make folks laugh even putting on a purple dress and running through faire like a mad man
  9. What was your very first experience at a renaissance festival? My first faire was in Virginia at age 25. It was amazing ! The acceptance and love i received. Sad that it took til I was 39 to go to faire again
  10. What education or training if any do you have that led to what you do? I have done public speaking in one form or another for nearly 20nyears now
  11. What would you say to a new person looking to try out or vending? Put your heart into it. Don’t let doubt take over. Shed the anxiety and put yourself out there. But most of all HAVE FUN!
  12. What is your go to for food at faire? You can name a food vendor or if you are a food vendor, what is your most sold item? QUEENS BEANS COFFEE in Iowa, personal favorite is the Jon Snow coffee. Food is anything Smoked or grilled.
  13. What’s your idea for the future of faires? I want faire to continue to be an escape and a place of love and acceptance. I strive to make everyone feel safe with me. I don’t judge and faire should be a judgment Free zone.
